Spirit Of Flowers

A friend and mentor of mine David Winston has kindly offered to do some shooting together. It was a beautiful evening, what photographers call the magic hour. I watched David every move as he was explaining how he goes about his craft. Then at the end things started flowing the Poppy flowers intrigued me the most. Silky, smooth bright red they were dancing in the wind.
The pair of Poppies is one of my favorites, its like a dance of two with synchronized movement. Also love the pink Morning Glory its transparent nature, happy, always facing the sun.

FLowers Of Life

I am always fascinated by beauty of flowers, their contrasting colors and their amazing details. I quickly discovered that there more then meets the eye to flower photography. The lighting and shadows and being able to capture the minute details was both a challenge and a pleasure.

More then that flowers is a great symbol for life in that they open up fully to the world as if to say hey look how beautiful I am, look how joyful I feel. There is a line in the song Amapola that says " I love you like the flower loves the sunshine" that’s the kind of love I imagine the flowers really do have. Although their beauty wanes quickly relative to a human life to me flowers truly symbolize the joy of being alive.
